FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When was The Pageant renovated?

Trick question!!!......and a common misconception. The Pageant Nightclub was built from the ground up specifically as a live music venue and opened for the first time on October 19, 2000. The name is the only remnant from the long-gone Pageant movie theater which was located about 3 blocks further east on Delmar from our location.

Where can I buy tickets to events at The Pageant?

Tickets can be purchased at The Pageant Box Office, in The Halo Bar, at all Ticketmaster outlets, by calling Ticketmaster (314.421.4400) or on the internet (www.ticketmaster.com). The Pageant Box Office is open Monday through Saturday from 11am until 7pm (open later on show nights). If an event is scheduled for a Sunday, the Box Office opens three hours prior to doors.  When the box office is closed, tickets to upcoming shows can still be purchased in the Halo Bar until midnight (see Halo Bar page for hours of operation).  Tickets purchased with cash from The Pageant Box Office or The Halo Bar are discounted to exclude transaction fees.

Can I call The Pageant Box Office to purchase tickets?

To order tickets by phone, please call Ticketmaster (314.421.4400). The Pageant Box Office cannot sell tickets by phone.

How does Will Call ticketing work?

If you’ve made arrangements to pick up your tickets at Will Call, your tickets will be available one (1) hour before the doors open on the day of the show. Tickets will not be available before this time. You will need to present your valid photo ID and the credit card used to purchase the tickets in order to receive the tickets. If you have purchased tickets for use by another person, please contact Ticketmaster (314.421.4400) before the show date in order to request a Will Call name change and verify the tickets will be held under the other person’s name.

What does it mean to have a “General Admission” ticket?

General Admission (GA) seating means that any seating other than reserved is available on a first come basis. Depending on when you arrive, the GA seating may already be taken, therefore standing room only may apply. GA tickets do not guarantee seating. You may notice that your GA ticket has numbers appearing in the “row” and “seating” lines on the ticket. These numbers do not represent a specific seat, as they are used for Ticketmaster’s tracking purposes only.

My ticket shows a seat number of "GA-LTD SEATING" or "GA".  What does this mean?

This means you have a general admission ticket.  Please refer to the previous question's answer.

Are there places to sit at The Pageant?

Seating arrangements vary based upon the type of event (please see below). If seating is important to you, it is best to ask about the specific event when you purchase tickets.

Main Level:

The main floor is more often than not set up in a cabaret style which is all general admission – tables, rails, chairs and stools are available on a first come basis. Some events will have very limited seating. Again, if seating is important to you, it is best to ask about the specific event when you purchase tickets.

Balcony:

If the balcony is open, there are reserved seats available for purchase as well as a general admission area behind the reserved seats which is open to whoever claims them first. However, you must be 21 years old or older to enter the balcony.

Why are the minors (those under 21 years of age) physically separated at some shows and not others?

Minors are physically separated from those patrons consuming alcohol at the majority of our events. There are only 2 instances when minors will NOT be physically separated: 1) Reserved seated shows 2) Low minor attendance shows.

What time should I arrive to get a good place to see the show?

The Pageant is designed so that everyone inside the venue can easily see the stage. Seating depends on the individual show. If you are 21 years old or older, you are able to take advantage of Early Entry through The Halo Bar (see below). For a sold out show, it is not uncommon for lines to form outside early in the day. Other times, you could arrive at show time and still find a preferred spot. It is really up to each person attending the event and their personal preference.

How can I take advantage of The Halo Bar’s “Early Entry”?

The Halo Bar opens at 5pm on show nights. Ticket holders inside The Halo Bar are able to enter The Pageant just before doors to the general public are opened. Since The Halo Bar holds a relatively small number or people, those patrons are able to have their choice of the general admission area(s) inside the venue. Once The Halo Bar fills to capacity no additional entries are allowed. Please remember that you must be 21 or older to enter The Halo Bar.

What should I do if I have special needs?

Please contact The Pageant Box Office (314.726.6161) prior to the day of the event if you need to make special arrangements (disabled seating, etc.). Please give us as much advance notice as possible so we have time to respond to your request.

Why is the balcony only open for certain shows?

We open the balcony on a “case by case” basis depending on the artist, the show set up, the expected attendance, etc. This information is available when purchasing tickets so please feel free to ask. Also, please remember that you must be 21 or older to enter the balcony.

What does “Sold Out” mean?

When a show is sold out, it means there are no longer tickets available. So if you haven’t already purchased tickets, you will not be able to attend the sold out show. Unlike some venues, we do not usually hold back ticekts for release at the last minute.

What happens if I don’t have my ticket with me when I arrive for the show?

Everyone must have a valid ticket in order to enter The Pageant. If your ticket was purchased by phone or on-line with Ticketmaster, and you are the person who purchased the ticket, there is a chance that we can find it in the system. Please proceed to The Pageant Box Office for assistance. However, if your ticket was purchased at a Ticketmaster outlet or The Pageant Box Office there is no record which ties the purchase to you personally. You will need to purchase another ticket if you are unable to retrieve your original ticket, but please be aware that if the event is sold out you will not be able to purchase additional tickets.

Why can I smoke at some events, but not at others?

Smoking inside The Pageant varies depending on the event. We normally allow smoking unless the artist specifically requests a “non-smoking” show or if the main floor is set up with reserved seats. In these cases, The Halo Bar is usually open for smoking to those who are 21 years old and older and can be accessed directly from The Pageant without going outside. We discourage cigar and pipe smoking.

Are credit and debit cards accepted at the bar? How about at the merchandise booth?

Credit and debit cards are accepted at the bars in both The Pageant and The Halo Bar. Band merchandise booths usually accept cash only. There are ATM’s conveniently located inside The Pageant, The Box Office and The Halo Bar.

What happens if I leave my credit or debit card at the bar?

All open tabs that are left at the bar after closing are charged to the card we are holding including a gratuity of 18% rounded to the nearest quarter .  We will hold your card and receipt for thirty days during which you can retrieve them at our Box Office or Halo Bar.

Is food available in The Pageant and/or The Halo Bar?

The Pageant and The Halo Bar sell packaged snacks (pretzels, peanuts, chips), but this is the extent of the food we carry. Customers are able to bring food (no drinks) into both The Pageant and The Halo Bar, or have it delivered to The Halo Bar. The Halo Bar has a menu book of local restaurants, or visit
The Loop website for additional information.

What is the “minor surcharge”?

The minor surcharge is a $2.00 fee collected at the door on most shows from patrons who are under the age of 21. Since we incur additional expenses presenting “all ages” events, this fee helps us offset these costs and continue to provide entertainment for all.

Can I rent The Pageant and/or The Halo Bar for private events?

The Pageant and The Halo Bar are both available for rental. Please contact Leslie Ramsey (314.726.6161 x17) for additional information.

EMERGENCIES

The Pageant and staff want to assure our customers that we strive to make your visit a safe and pleasurable experience. Built in 2000, The Pageant is constructed of fire-rated materials that meet or exceed all modern fire and assembly codes.  At The Pageant, you are always within 75 feet of an exit.  Exits are clearly marked and located at every corner of the building on both levels. In the unlikely event an incident occurs, stay calm and proceed to the NEAREST fire exit rather than retracing your steps to the entrance.
